    Summary

Ilya hums, playing the card he's been considering for this entire conversation. “We could make more interesting, yes? A bet.”

“A bet,” Shane repeats, eyes flashing. “Like what?”

The reporter cuts in. “What about wearing the other player’s jersey?”

They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”

“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”

“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”

Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.

“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”

    Summary

“So,” Ilya starts, drumming his fingers on his knees. “You want tuna melt when we get home?”

“What?” Shane says, distracted. “We just had dinner.”

“Yes,” Ilya says. “But you had children’s portion.”

Shane sends him an incredulous look. “I had two servings.”

    “Of baby food.”

    “Ilya.”

    “Shane.”

Shane sighs. “Can we not do this? Please.”

Unfortunately for Shane, they must do this.

Or: Shane's restrictive eating versus Hayden Pike and Ilya Rozanov.

    Summary

“Do you know one of the players?” One of the girls asked around her friend. “That's cool.”

Before she could think too much about it, Yuna had already said, “He's family.”

“Cool!” The other girl asked pointedly, “You don't look alike.”

“Cassie, you can't just say that!” The other girl hissed and Yuna smiled.

“He's my son.” She said to stop the conversation there.

    Summary

“Steve,” Bucky says, long past when Steve thinks he’s dozed off, “tell me a story.”

    “Hmm? What kind of story?”

“A ghost story,” he says and laughs again, that strange laugh that doesn’t quite ring right. There’s no humor in Bucky’s expression when he detaches himself from Steve’s arm to look at his face. “About him. Bucky.”

“He—it’s you, Buck.” Steve tries not to let his voice waver. It’s not easy. “He’s you.”

“I know,” Bucky says, but somehow, his easy acquiescence is the opposite of reassuring.

    “Then—”

“But I don’t remember it. And that matters. Memories matter, Steve.”
