    “Why haven’t we kissed yet?”
And – strike that, maybe Will is dead.
“You,” Will says dumbly. “I – what?”
“Us,” Mike specifies, like we could have meant anyone else, although the clarification is still appreciated, because Will’s brain feels a little useless, right now. “Kiss. You and me.”

A summer afternoon in Mike's room and Will's mess of a brain.

    Summary

The world is quite literally ending. His girlfriend just broke up with him. Mike can't stop thinking about Will.

    “Will can stay with me.”

Will looks up from the spot he was looking at on the floor. “What? I can?”

    “Stay at my house tonight.”

Will plays with his own fingers. Mike can't stop looking at them. “What? Mike, why? I’ll be okay here.”

“It’s just one night,” Mike says, a little loudly, a little desperate.

“Okay,” Will replies, a little loudly, also a little desperate, a little too fast like he had been meaning to say yes the entire time. “Yeah… Yeah, I’ll stay over.”

And now they’re here. Both sitting on Mike’s bed with the most crushing tension hanging over them. Mike wants to die in it.

“You must be Eddie.” Will looks over at him knowingly, with one eyebrow quirked. Eddie figures that was probably a process of elimination, since he’s the only person here that Will doesn’t seem to know. He surprises him by saying, “the guys mentioned the hair.” Eddie knew those little shits talked about him behind his back. He can’t help the smile that breaks out on his face.

“Hopefully they mentioned how incredible it looks and that they’re all jealous they can’t pull off bangs as well as I can.” Eddie throws his head around in a rocker stance, playing a little air guitar for emphasis. Will is staring at him unimpressed. “Well, Will the Wise, I've heard all about you.”

    Summary

Joe’s Hyper Shack was a popular place, and Joe was very proud of it. It was the most popular coffee shop in the university quarter of the city, and was always bustling with activity, though it did have it's moments of tranquility. He made drinks that went from sugary flavor bombs to motor oil that had the Joe Hill's guarantee to keep you awake for twenty four hours straight...those did great during finals week! He made fun of his longest-running employee for being a wannabe goth boy, he decorated with psychedelic colors, and he played his favorite game in the world. That is, considering he was the owner of a coffee shop across the street from a university, he'd been witness to many 'hey, let's grab coffee' situations over the years. He'd grown adept at nailing down when couples were a sure thing or if they were bound to fall through. And nothing made him happier than suckering Hypno in to betting a couple bucks on his hunches.

    {In which Joe Hills sells tasty motor oil, Hypno clashes colors, and Scar and Grian are to wrapped up in each other to realize they just lost Hypno twenty bucks}

    Summary

“The Watchers must be pleased.” Grian decides, saying the words quietly. He continues to stare up at the swirling lights. Scar says nothing, arms crossed. He has a pensive look across his face, anxiety beading his eyes. Grian swallows nervously, wringing his hands together.

Right. Mentioning the Watchers. That put them in this game. He shouldn’t have said anything.

He understands the bitterness in Scar’s face. His anger is justifiable; being forced to fight to the death over scraps of glory and conquest that none of them are too keen on doing is certainly reason enough.

Gods, Grian doesn’t want to know what Scar would truly think of him. The bliss of ignorance and veil of omission is enough to keep him enthralled in this temporary state of happiness. Perhaps that will be enough.

Or; a peaceful night for Grian and Scar in the Games, under dancing lights from the heavens.
