What happens when he still comes out as gay, ten years into his career and it goes as poorly as in canon but he has no support system as the hits become harder and his teammates stop protecting their captain? Traded to Boston unceremoniously, maybe he resolves to solve his own problems, he's just not expecting the man he's hired to teach him how to fight to be so hot.
Instead of finding hockey and a way out as a teenager, Ilya stayed longer in Russia, caught up in his father's corruption and brother's criminal empire as their leashed attack dog. But he still found a way out, even if it cost him more than he had. Years later, he's hiding in Boston as an MMA instructor by day and underground fighter by night, working to repay his debt. When the city's new star hockey player shows up asking for his help, he finds himself unable to say no, even if letting a certain freckled pretty boy into his life could endanger them both and the life he's built.

A modern(ish) rugby AU. Bravely asking the question what if Hak was a butch he/him lesbian and also really good at rugby. Theoretically going to have a cohesive plot but mostly just an excuse to write about all my favorite Yona characters in a rugby setting.
I included some rules of the game in the notes and can add more if people want more later and will also at some point fully write up the roster of the team I imagine and include that :)
