Zuo Le knows what he’s doing.
This is not a statement He Sheng thought he’d say, not before the sky had turned red. Even more unusual is the fact that Zuo Le looks like he knows what he’s doing. Though the man had not been stationed here before either, not to He Sheng’s knowledge, it is similar enough to what he clearly knows that it is easier on his step.
This is the difference between a farmhand and a soldier, likely, He Sheng realizes.
