"Daisuke, how does your situation from four or so years ago connect back to your hesitation to call Ken your best friend—to reconnect, for that matter?”
Daisuke pauses.
“The way you speak about Ken stands out—you had a strong connection. You spent all your time together. You were best friends since you were children. And it seems… this time you spent out of country is a focal point."
Daisuke looks at the Kuramon planter again. Its wide unblinking eye somehow more comforting than Sasaki’s intent gaze.
“I only bring this up because it is recurring,” Sasaki pauses in a way that Daisuke knows more is coming. “Do you miss your relationship with Ken?”
daisuke moves back home to pick up the pieces. he's not sure if ken wants that.

Summary
Tav guides Gale back to his tent, seeming unsure where to put his hands. He settles for placing a wavering hand along Gale’s shoulder—as if he is afraid of a more intimate touch.
“You should get looked at too,” Gale says softly. The very words ache in his chest as he forces them out. He is so tired. “You look ill, Tav.”
“I’m fine,” Tav says, clipped and exhausted.
This worry is not new, but it feels novel. How long has it been since he’s had other mortals to truly care about? Gale purposefully takes a step wrong and stumbles. Tav’s arm is already there—trembling and wrapped around his waist.
Greedy, a soft voice echoes in his mind. Why can’t you ever be happy with what I give you.
the attempts gale and tav have at connection prove difficult at best.

Tav snorts. “He wasn’t much for pillow talk.”
Gale’s jaw twitches. “No. He simply sent you on your way. Not even a friendly pat.”
“As is the way of things,” Tav hums. He flashes Gale a lopsided smile—an expression still strange to him. Gale frowns. “It isn’t as if I was looking for comfort, Gale. He did as he said he would—even had some… apt praise for my reactions.”
“That isn’t the point.”
tav seeks penance, absolution, punishment— something. fortunately, gale's read books on aftercare.

Tardif releases Damian’s shoulder and leans into the wall—boxing Damian in. He is a furnace—hot, heavy, everything Damian has fantasized about.

His skin is warm—sun-touched and riveted with scars. The flagellant stares up at the bounty hunter from beneath his hood, waiting. He does not flinch away; he only stares back from the shadows of his helmet. He does not know how long they stand like that—the flagellant’s grasping hand clutching this nameless man as if he were the last vestiges of peace in the world. Stranger still is how still the bounty hunter stays, how calm—how he seems to almost relax the longer the flagellant holds onto him despite how with just a slip of thought, he could be burned and corroded.

Sett exhales, barely a sound. His lips are parted, his breath stuttering. His body is already answering for him, trembling like it’s halfway to yes. He swallows around the heat in his throat and licks his lips, voice thick and cracked and almost shy when he says,
“… Is this a part of the service?”
And Aphelios, bless him, tilts his head. Smiles. Something so small. So gentle. Like he’s been waiting for this line, for this crack in Sett’s armor, for this exact moment when the wanting blooms wide and can’t be hidden anymore.
“It could be,” he says, quiet as breath. “If you want it.”

Eddie was already out on the sidewalk, heading toward The Chronicle building when he took his first sip of coffee. The rush of caffeine had him sighing with pleasure and he heard a faint tinkling sound from behind him. It was a little late for Salvation Army Santas to still be out but Eddie wouldn’t put it past them. He hated the sound of those fucking bells, though.
