Summary
Xie Lian has been imprisoned in the coffin for who knows how long. When he finally gets out, he's met with a slew of problems- and an unexpected friend.

Xie Lian lay among a patch of brush for days or weeks, he couldn’t tell, letting his body knit itself together and grow accustomed to the brightness of the world. When he confirmed he was whole and unwounded, he snuck out to a river in the middle of the night to wash himself or drown himself, whichever came first. He didn’t look at his reflection– he didn’t want to know what a horrifying sight he must have been. He submerged himself completely, trying his hardest to clean the dirt and blood and who knows what else from his hair, his skin, and his robes. The water ran red and brown, and he didn’t leave the river until several hours later, when the stench of dried blood had lessened enough to be bearable. He thought maybe he’d drowned in the water. He crawled, dripping wet and shivering, to a meadow hidden in the woods, where he lay hoping that the sun would dry him off tomorrow.
It was there, the next day, that the red fox found him.

Summary
In another universe, The Crown Prince of Xian Le, Xie Lian, did not ascend as a martial god, but as a god of flowers, a minor god.
A minor god who made a mistake, and was punished, sealed in his own little portion of heaven with barely any power, indebted to the Heavenly Officials for their mercy and kindness. He spends his days in isolation, occasionally visited by gods when they want him for their festivals. He cannot refuse.
All days were nice. All days were the same.
Until a new 'god' visited, one draped in red with a large, red butterfly perched on his shoulder.
“Hello, Gege. You can call me San Lang.”

Summary
“Your Highness,” Feng Xin says carefully, “what do you…how much do you remember?”
“Clearly, he remembers enough,” Mu Qing snaps. He waves an emphatic hand. “He’s happy to see us, isn’t he?”
“Ah, it’s really alright, I remember most things,” Xie Lian says, placating. “I just don’t…”
His eyes skitter nervously towards Hua Cheng and then away again; the tension in Hua Cheng’s shoulders, in his entire body, stretches closer to snapping. It feels like every muscle is straining under the weight of this, like every cell in his body is rebelling against this…this horror.
Still, he manages to say what Xie Lian apparently cannot: “He just doesn’t remember me.”

Summary
Xie Lian, unable to hold back his curiosity, opens the envelope with his letter opener. When he pulls out the short letter from within, he is pleased to note even the paper within is as good quality—if not better—than the envelope itself.
...
Who? What on earth? What is this, some kind of prank? But the paper is so lovely, how can he mistrust someone who would use such high quality paper? It would be like eyeing a spoonful of the greatest chef’s signature dish.
Suddenly, he remembers the thin paper between his thumb and index. With trepidation, he turns it over and immediately has to sit down.
A check for two million dollars. A check for two million dollars.
