Once Vetinari had settled into his role as patrician and his former schoolmate Downey had assumed his role as head of the assassins’ guild, they found it advantageous to periodically meet in private to discuss matters concerning the city.
On one such night, not long after the lilacs had bloomed once again and a man named Carcer had been hanged, they’d switched to brandy earlier than usual. Downey noted that his companion spent rather more time than usual staring into the distance. Something would need to be done. That wasn’t at all healthy for a man like Havelock Vetinari.

“There was another thing,” said Bond. “Things happened so fast when we got back with him, I never had a chance to show you this. The woman who helped me, she carried a custom handgun. It’s the sort of thing your predecessor appreciated; I thought you might find it interesting,”Bond held out the weapon to Q, who took it from him gently, as if he were holding something fragile and beautiful. He reflexively checked that it wasn’t loaded, turned it over.
Q gave Bond a sad smile. “Did you notice this etching?” he asked, pointing to a spot near the trigger where the metal had been rubbed slightly smoother, as if its owner had touched the spot frequently.
“I did. I couldn’t read the Chinese characters. I’d guess the English letters are someone’s initials.”
Q nodded. “Yes. They’re mine.”

Summary
This is a set of standalone pieces, they are/will be 200 words except for the odd 221B.
Each will start with the same premise: Q has been captured and multiple agents are sent to retrieve him. Each fic will begin when he says "Took you long enough," or an agent says, "Sorry it took us so long."
When I have ideas, I'm posting once a week or so. I have a several more ideas (as of 4/2021) and am open to additional prompts.

Branching story with five planned endings. As of 10/5/2023 all of the five endings are posted complete.
I plan to add one more fic to the series which will archive some deleted scenes/branches that didn't end up going anywhere. They will generally be less polished/unfinished and likely to remain so.

Over one hundred thousand years ago, glaciers crept over the body of North America and froze it under a mile of ice. They carried along with them great rocks and boulders and sand and grit, and as they moved, they gouged scars out of the earth.
When they at last reached their southernmost boundary, they left ridges made of those rocks and boulders; a pile of debris not unlike (on a geological scale, at least) the lines of dirt left behind after sweeping dirt into a dustpan.
And now, thirty thousand years after the glaciers melted and retreated, leaving the Great Lakes behind them, it is time for hockey.

The volunteer nodded and Tony saw the beginnings of a smug smile in return. “My name is Loki, I use he/him pronouns, and magic tricks are for gullible children and half-witted fools.”
Tony’s lip twitched as he bit back a scowl. Listen, buddy, I don’t show up at your job and shit on your work, he grumbled internally. The irritation masked an undercurrent of fear. The simple truth was that not everyone could be hypnotized - only those who, on some level, really wanted it.
