Summary
Andrew could not give less of a shit about Valentine’s Day. Mathematically, it was impossible; no shit could be less than the shit Andrew gave. Nothing could beat non-existence.
He just found it all unnecessarily loud and obnoxious. Grand declarations of love and chunks of money spent on shit that would never get used more than once, or would be stuck on a shelf and forgotten, and all for relationships that would inevitably either go up in flames or fizzle out weeks, if not months or years, later.
Nothing stayed long enough to justify expenses like that.

The cats meowed some more. Andrew ignored them and grabbed the paper, almost throwing the glasses out of his way, and unfolded it. On the inside was some scribbling that looked - well, it looked like his handwriting, but that didn’t calm any of Andrew’s anxiety as he started reading it. 'Yes, I’m you. You’re in the future. Welcome to 2017. Don’t do anything stupid and listen to Neil if you don’t want to die.'

Andrew turned the piece of paper over and found one last thing. 'The cats are hungry. Give them 1 scoop of the food in the cabinet under the sink.'
