Vash Saverem is the head stylist and co-owner of Who Let the Dogs Sprout?, a hole-in-the-wall grooming salon and pet supply boutique in beautiful, sunny, July City.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood is new in town, fresh off the plane from December, and he's in desperate need of a patient and willing groomer to make his beloved dog, Angelina, not look like a giant walking mop.
Vash likes working with nervous dogs almost as much as he likes meeting cowboys who wear all black. Wolfwood likes guys with goofy smiles and stupid hair almost as much as he likes his big ol' nervous dog.

Summary
Vash pauses at the door when they reach it, but Wolfwood blows past him, catching him by the elbow to pull him over the threshold. Vash’s yelp of surprise is covered by the thump of Wolfwood kicking the door shut behind them, and whatever noise he was going to make next is swallowed by the click of the lock.
“I’m gonna kiss you,” Wolfwood announces.
"Oh.” Vash recognizes the tone beneath the words—the way Wolfwood will sometimes say something out loud to gauge whether it should happen or not. It’s usually along the lines of “I’m gonna knock your teeth in.” It’s never been kissing before.
But now the moment’s here, and Vash is woefully unprepared. He should have realized when he caught Wolfwood giving him that look as he picked himself up off the ground—a look that Vash wouldn’t dare call “smitten” out loud, even if it was the only word that came to mind. Wishful thinking, right?
