The last time Draco was recruited into something, it didn’t actually go very well. But these are just kids. How much trouble could they realistically get into?

He scrambles to the edge of his bed and gently picks up the box that holds the star, carefully removing it and resting it in his lap. He runs his fingers up and down the glass ridges, thinking about his dad. Is he sitting alone in the living room right now? Staring up at their magical tree topper while Scorpius sits on his dorm room bed with his mum’s favorite decoration? It’s a piece of her, and now it’s taken from his dad too, left to sit in his room without a tree to rest on. It should be at home, with both of them.
He doesn’t realize he’s crying until Albus peeks his head around the hangings of his bed, cautious but frowning deeply.

After everything, McGonagall allows Albus and Scorpius to go home for Christmas. When they return on Boxing Day to finish up their final week of detention, Scorpius arrives with a piece of his mum.

Maybe it’s the fact that he’s almost certainly drunk, but have Albus’ eyes gotten greener over the past few hours? He wants to ask. He should definitely ask.
He can hear Rose laughing from beside him and then he can feel her standing up, patting him on the head.
“His eyes have not gotten greener, no, Scorpius,” she sighs, and Scorpius is alerted that he was, in fact, speaking aloud. Albus is looking up at him with a dopey smile. There’s space for Albus to sit, now that Rose has disappeared across the room, but he doesn’t move from Scorpius’ lap.

He’s got fading scars along both of his hands, from simple mishaps and clumsy accidents, and a bandage wrapped around the knuckle of his right thumb – Albus got to watch that one up close and personal yesterday, Scorpius nicking his finger on the ornate door knob of his own bedroom. His fingers are elegant looking, especially while he plays, the melody turning more complicated, and he’s enraptured in simply watching them move. Scorpius has very nice hands.
“Albus?” Scorpius asks, amused, when he forgets to answer. He doesn’t even realize the music has stopped, still staring at Scorpius’ motionless fingers against the keys.
