“So why’d it end?”
Sunghoon looks over at Heeseung and Jake. They’re still sitting, just the two of them– Heeseung is laughing at something Jake said, resting his hand on his inner thigh. Even without much light, the happy flush on Jake’s cheeks is obvious, his delight at having made Heeseung laugh even more so.
Sunghoon contemplates how to answer Sunoo’s question. The easiest response is: they wanted different things. That’s what Heeseung and Jake had said when they broke the news to him and Jay. And as hard as he tried to coax a more truthful reason out of Jake, he wouldn’t budge. But having observed them throughout their long, nine-month road to recovery? Sunghoon thinks they both want exactly the same thing.
So instead he says, “Sometimes love isn’t enough.”

“They got along just fine over breakfast,” Riki grumbled. “They don’t need me.”
“Good,” Jungwon said, gesturing to Jay and Sunghoon. “Because we do. Those two are stubborn. They’re attracted to each other. We just have to get them to see that. Unfortunately, Sunghoon is shy and Jay is oblivious, so that's where we come in.”
Sunoo scoffed, “Riki is shy and oblivious, how would he be of any help?”
