Kara was dying and it was no one's fault but her own.
She was the one to suggest a karaoke night, the one to suggest going to the new karaoke bar that chose random categories for everyone, the one to get Lena just drunk enough to agree to participate, the one to get Lena just that little bit more drunk so that she'd commit to the bit. Up until Lena's turn, she'd felt pretty good about the whole sequence of events, even happier that those extra couple of drinks would mean Lena would be extra cuddly when they went back to Kara's apartment for a sleepover.
But she wasn't prepared for this. She wasn't prepared at all.

Taking a deep breath, Rumi sought to ground herself. Things were going great!
A week had passed, the honmoon was still golden and holding strong, none of Gwi-Ma’s minions had resurfaced, and now Huntr/x just had to focus on singing their chart-topping hits and having fun. Even Bobby had an extra spring in his step when he’d visited them yesterday.
Except…things weren’t 100% all that great. At least, not from the vibes Rumi had been getting.
Sure, Mira and Zoey were acting like everything was back to normal, but she felt that they hadn’t fully tackled what it truly meant that Rumi was an actual real demon. Or half a demon. That categorization eluded even her.
It was the proverbial giant tiger in the apartment, and after all they went through, Rumi promised herself that she was done hiding and skirting around the truth. She wanted her friends to trust her, and for them to know unequivocally that nothing had changed.

Rumi is marked, scarred by the past. She doesn't deserve happiness, she's a demon after all. Even if she saved the world. She's still a mistake. Still something that shouldn't have been born, let alone alive. Though Mira and Zoey heavily disagree with that.
Mira is angry. Oh so fucking angry. At her parents. At Celine. At the bad demons who caused all this. At herself. But not Rumi or Zoey. Never At Rumi or Zoey.
Zoey's afraid of being too much of being alone again. So maybe she's too clingy, or too fast for people. She's kind, and funny and always so helpful even when it hurts. Mira and Rumi love her the way she is, never thinking shes too much.

Everyone has scars. Even if they aren't all visible. You just need to find those who will care for you and love everything about you.
