But as he entered the hallway, Toots finally heard the commotion outside. Had he really been so focused on all the chatting that he didn't notice when the torrential rain started to pound against the roof? It must have all been some kind of cruel joke at his expense– but he still opened the door and was bewildered when he saw the outdoors.
Imelik moved somewhere behind him and sighed softly.
“Goddamn.” Toots finally turned around, looking into the eyes of Imelik– who had the tiniest, most apologetic smile on his face as he stared back at him.
