“It was Percy,” she finally spills. “It's Percy, the father is Percy.”
Saying those words out loud makes Annabeth’s stomach growl. She feels nauseous, which she figures probably is not just psychological, all things considered. She has no idea what she’s going to do about this yet, but saying the word father actually makes it feel like a baby for the first time. She lifts her gaze to take in her friends’ stunned expressions, their matching o-shaped mouths and wide eyes.
“Percy Jackson?” Piper gasps. “Percy your-best-fucking-friend Jackson?”or

It was bad enough that Annabeth had to call someone to come tow her car after she crashed it into a snowbank in the middle of nowhere. Even worse? That “someone" being Percy Jackson: the ex she was definitely, completely, 100% over.
She just had to survive an awkward car ride –and maybe a few more interactions– with her so called high school sweetheart without strangling him. Or worse, sleeping with him. Again.

She was expecting him to be everywhere. She was expecting her heart to sting every time she walked by the places they used to walk together (it didn’t help that they loved passing by the Empire State, Annabeth because she would appreciate the architecture and Percy just because he was a real sucker for NY). She expected her anxiety to come back as strong as ever.

Summary
Lily wouldn’t admit it out loud (at least not to him), but she wouldn’t want to sit somewhere else. Not when she can feel the chocolate scent of his breath every time he takes a deeper breath and watch the movement of the muscles in his shoulders when he moves to grab more ink. Not when their elbows brush softly as they write and she can feel electricity coming from the place where her knee touches his thigh on the floor.
Truth be told, she hasn’t gotten almost any work done. She can’t concentrate enough. She keeps looking at James, thinking about how close he is and trying to get rid of the butterflies in her stomach whenever they touch. But really, she doesn’t care. Being quiet and close to him is one of the best things she’s experienced in a while.

He held her for a while, letting her feel his heartbeat near her own chest and his breath rustle thin strands of her hair near her ear. Then he pulled apart and put his hands softly on her jaw, holding her head up to keep their eyes together.

He wasn’t popular. He wasn’t particularly smart, either. He was on the swim team and well known for his sarcastic comments, and really, he wasn’t Annabeth’s type.
But, most importantly, he was on Annabeth’s Algebra class. And there was something about him that made her develop a huge crush on him this past year. Maybe it was the way he furrowed his eyebrows whenever he didn’t know how to proceed in some equation. Or maybe it was the fact that he actually hated Maths, but was trying his best because he wanted to make his mother proud and go to a good college. It could even be the way he asked about her and actually bothered listening, remembering details about what she told him after.
Either way, he wasn’t her type. But she had a huge crush on him, and less than zero courage to do something about that.

She always made sure she fell asleep with her back turned to him and some space between them in bed. She didn’t like to cuddle, and he didn’t mind. He usually slept facing the ceiling, one arm tucked beneath his head. It was reckless and chill, but she knew it was because he always fell in a contemplative line of thought before falling asleep. But somehow, every time, his hand ended up finding support on Annabeth’s hip (or her waist, her ribs, her thigh…) and waking up there in the morning.
The thing is, Annabeth loves it. And that’s what scares her the most.

She could literally feel her lips tingling just by the thought of kissing him, feeling the wistful smile on his lips and his salty taste on her tongue.
She took a deep breath, calmed down. And bought the dress.
