There were few things she appreciated above certainty. Indeed, it was one of the greatest gifts the White Tower has given her: the certainty of the daily routine of a novice. There was something to the simple menial labor of the chores, the monotony of movements repeated hundreds of times during practical classes, the unending lectures, that unexpectedly brought her a semblance of peace. Recently though, her routine has been threatened by the reoccurring brief appearance of a shadowed figure on her window ledge at the still-dark hours of the dawn, a silhouette she recognised. Another thing has become certain, Siuan Sanche was up to no good. And Moiraine Damodred was going to uncover her schemes… and find out why must they take place upon her window ledge of all places.

In this turning of the Wheel, Moiraine and Siuan grow up in the Two Rivers. They are drawn to each other and for a time it’s easy for Moiraine to dismiss it as mere friendship. As they grow older, however, she begins having dreams—flashes of a life that Moiraine can’t possibly have lived.

In this life, they finally have all the time to spend with one another, where they finally get the chance to simply love the people they love, grow old with them, protect them, and support them. There is no angst in this Siuanraine just deserves a good life together and I miss them!

This story is about the other reasons Moiraine eats, and the deep meaning that food can carry.

Of all the trials she’d been set since she had come to the White Tower, somehow the most impossible was to lie beside Siuan in her gauzy nightdress, to feel the shape of Siuan’s body against her own in bed drowsy and supple with sleep-heat. On some nights when the fire was high, a faint seal of sweat would form between them like a kiss in places where their bare skin touched, and she swore to herself that she’d forgo bedding with Siuan altogether, and never mind the cold. But somehow she never could.
