Summary
His petulance is adorable, and it’s that cuteness that makes Gunwook relax. Which is a mistake. His guard is down, so he’s defenceless when Matthew pulls out a box of pepero from behind his back and says, “Do you wanna practice with me?”
His vagueness is teasing, but not confusing. Gunwook understands it immediately, almost too quickly. His vision blurs. His mouth runs dry. His hearing gets muffled and foggy, like he’s low health in a video game. He feels like he’s at low health, like Matthew’s just bludgeoned him over the head and there aren’t any medpacks left on the map for him to use.
Or; Matthew and Gunwook hone their variety skills.

Summary
“Mister Zhang,” Prosecutor Hanbin Sung, the Angel of Death, says, bright-eyed and much too close for comfort. So close that Hao can almost taste his lavender breath, which is fucking ridiculous, how can breath naturally taste like lavender? “Hao.”
“Prosecutor Sung,” Hao returns, far too composed for how he actually feels. The chaotic storm of confusion seems to have been externalized by Yujin, who openly gapes and stares at the scene in front of him. He has a bigger reaction to this than being accused of murder. Typical. “Is there a problem?"
Prosecutor Sung makes a noise, strung out and delighted. Then he says, “The only thorn in my side is your sharp mind and sharper gaze; the first rendered me helpless against your certain victory, and the second rendered me helpless in affection,” and then he kisses Hao on the mouth.
(He was a legendary prosecutor, he was a rookie defense attorney, can I make it anymore obvious?)

Ears burning, Ricky turns back to anxiously glance at Yujin. Yujin’s already staring at him, expression pinched with something that makes Ricky’s heartbeat race with anxiety. “Uh,” Ricky coughs, and tries to arrange his features into something respectable. “Your brother is a shithead, haha.”
Yujin scoffs. It makes Ricky feel like shit. Why are teenagers so god damn powerful? “Please, you are not fooling me.” Yujin mumbles, looking out the window. He’s got one airpod in. Somehow, that's the part that stings the most.

“I don’t give a damn about your destiny.” Hao snarls. Matthew’s breath catches in his throat. It is blasphemy that leaves Hao’s lips, and yet, he says it as if it’s the simplest truth. “I’ll slay the fates myself if I have to. I’m not losing you.”
“Hao,” Hanbin breathes, his voice thick with emotion. He sounds like he believes it. He sounds like he wants it more than anything. Still, he protests, albeit weak, “It’s not so simple.”
“Yes, it is.” Hao retorts. “I won’t let you die.”
It’s not so simple, Matthew wants to repeat—not an echo of Hanbin’s words, but an assertion of his own understanding. He is the prophet, after all. He is the one who deals with destiny. But Matthew is a coward, and he always has been, so all he can do is close his eyes and curse himself for it.
Or; Hanbin is the hero prophesied to save the world at the cost of his life. Hao is hell-bent on saving both. Matthew is an oracle who knows damn well that if there is a price, it must be paid.

“Matthew, hey– look at me.” Hao gently takes his face in his hands. “You don’t know what’s gonna happen and I don’t know either, but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that you guys are meant to be by each other’s side. Nothing's gonna change that.”
And it’s those words that do it for him. Because even though he might’ve believed that before Boys Planet, he doesn’t now, and to hear this from Zhang Hao makes it even harder.
And because Matthew is Matthew and can never shut up when he really should, he tries his best to put on a smile and tells him: “If anyone is meant to debut with Hanbin, it’s you, Hyung.”
Or: in which Hao tries to comfort Matthew and accidentally ends up confessing - just not his own feelings.

Hanbin tilts his head. “Really?” he asks softly, because it seems like that should be impossible. “I haven’t?”
“No,” Hao answers, and it’s his turn to pout at him, this time. “Tsk. You should do better.”
Hanbin is entranced by the challenging stare that Hao directs at him as he says it, reminded again of just how wrapped around Hao’s finger he’s been for the longest time now, and how he’s going to be, a long way forward. Hanbin recalls his earlier thought about the perpetuity and plurality of Hao’s particular brand of beauty—and maybe he needs to stop thinking so much about it sometimes and remember more often to say it, because Hao always likes to hear it, after all. From anyone, yes—but especially from Hanbin. Just because it’s Hanbin—and Hanbin is the person he loves.
“Mm," Hanbin smirks back, voice melodic, pulling him in closer by the waist. "I should.”
