Summary

Sherlock has just shot Magnussen, and John feels adrift. Everything is wrong. He's fairly certain he hates his wife, too. The regrets are too numerous for him to count. Sherlock is in prison, his ultimate fate unknown and the isolation slowly (or, rather, worryingly quickly) whittling away at his sanity. Mycroft is equally untethered, scrambling for options. An AU in which John is a forensic pathologist, Sherlock is Sherlock, and there’s a devious series of murders to solve.
Sherlock set off down the riverbank, focused on Dr. Watson the entire way. There was something sturdy, confident about him, each move carefully considered and precise. His expression was serious, intently focused, utterly absorbed in his work, as different from Anderson as was possible to imagine. The doctor’s colleague said something that drew a smile from him, and his eyes crinkled at the corners. That was—appealing.
Oh, John Watson was going to be trouble in a wholly unanticipated way.
