“So, what do you do, Mr. Lafonde?” Dutch asked after the silence dragged on for a bit.
The man paused, regarding Dutch from head to toe with those sharp eyes. Heat flared in Dutch’s stomach, but he quickly smothered it. “I think you know,” replied the blond finally, his pretend accent suddenly gone.
“Do I, now?” Dutch raised his eyebrows.
“I think our professions share a lot of similarities, Mr. O’Malley,” the man emphasized the fake name.
A toothy grin spread itself across Dutch’s face.

She was a beautiful woman, truly. Fiery red hair, green eyes, plump lips, freckles littering her otherwise perfect skin. Quick to trust, young, naive. She was Dutch’s type of woman, no doubt. There is no wonder he chose her. After all, Hosea was no longer the charming young conman Dutch had once been in love with. Now, he was just an old man, well past his prime, unable to offer Dutch the pleasure or the company he once had. Hell, he was even failing at breathing properly.
