Hornet and Lace journey to the Kingdom of Hallownest to search for Hornet's left behind sibling, the location of whom she does not know. Lace doesn't understand why she is alive after trying to fashion her own passing, but she lives nonetheless.

Hornet has had enough of Pharloom and it's madness, it has left her in an absurdly foul mood.
Leaving her eager to defeat the Pale Monarch, so that she can finally return home and leave this place behind.
Lace, however, decides that now would be the perfect time to taunt and tease Hornet about her experiences.
A decision she would come to regret.

Summary
“Are you well?” It was a loaded question. Hornet had just brought Lace’s world crashing down on top of her, unraveled everything she had ever known. How could Lace possibly be well?
“How considerate of you, spider, to ask only now.” Lace’s tone held some degree of bite, but Hornet could tell that she was exhausted by her time possessed by void. “Not when you stole Mother’s affections, not when you shredded my pathetic shell and crushed my desires, but only now.”

Summary
When Hornet's siblings track her captors all the way from Hallownest and follow her down the cliffs of Pharloom, the goal of her journey through the kingdom changes from 'make it back to siblings as quickly as possible' to 'take siblings on a field trip through this new kingdom and let them help discover the secrets of the Citadel.'
In which Hornet learns the truth behind her existence, Ghost discovers a love of bells, and Hollow makes a strange assortment of new friends.
