Alastor knows Lucifer and he knows about love, and he knows that when it comes to love him and Lucifer fall on two opposite ends of a line. The thing is, Lucifer knows how to show he loves him, and he shows off.
Alastor's not quite sure how he would show Lucifer he loves him. It's frustrating.

Of all things Arthur might have expected from Gaius to be doing, he does not expect to find him in a part of the forest that his father has forbidden them from going to, kneeling before a grave in a setting he's never seen. And everyone in Camelot knows, that if something remains invisible, it is probably better off not being seen.
But when what he sees tells him truths about his mother, and the purge of magic he had followed at his father's command, and offers him a shot at setting the wrongs of his father right, and perhaps bringing a small part of his mother's spirit back to the kingdom she had helped to build, Arthur cannot look away.
Magic in Camelot is a crime worse than high treason. But snow falls, and Winter is kind, and Arthur knows this is the right thing to do, at any cost it may demand. -

Summary
It's not a problem. It really isn't. A mere predicament, like one would expect as the bare minimum of a place like hell.
But there's an offensive sliver of space between them that Lucifer seems to keep, when they're not doing things that don't explicitly require touching, and he really doesn't know why. Alastor thinks he might die or go mad if he doesn't learn why and learn it soon. And maybe, just maybe, he'd like that space between them to be completely erased while they are at it.
Not that he would say any of this out loud. Ever. And so he suffers.

He hadn’t even managed to put on shoes when Charlie’s loud, desolated groan at the other end of the hotel had made him rush out of his room, and his slippers and the hems of his pyjama bottoms were slowly getting soaked through. Why the fuck had he even bothered to change? He loved Charlie (see constants no. 1-4), but even he had to admit his current discomfort was solely the result of the list of healthy bedtime rituals she’d organised for him when, allegedly, the bags under his eyes had started developing a gravitational pull.
In which Lucifer has insomnia, the hotel is moderately alive, and Alastor is in over his head.
