He had scared Nicolò away with his intensity, with the depth of feeling Nicolò had no hope to match. Nicolò had ran away, despite their shared immortality, because of course he would. Who wouldn’t? Yusuf could already picture it. The empty room, only an imprint on the mattress betraying that anyone else had ever been there at all.
