But over the years Ilya notices that the vicious media and the clamouring fans and some of his more foul-mouthed teammates treat Hollander differently than any other hockey player.

Summary
Heated Rivalry fics, a mix of showverse and bookverse but showverse somewhat favored (no shade, I just love the work they did in the adaptation). In my usual fashion, I find sticking to canon as much as possible to be a fun challenge, I try hard with timelines and weird canon details and things, but I ultimately try to serve the characters most of all. I do tend to make people too nice to each other but I try to keep emotions vaguely plausibly-realistic.
Stories aren't in a sequence but I have also, because this is how I am as a person, largely tried to make them in continuity with one another.- Words:

Shane sits on the closed lid of the toilet. His heel is tapping rapidly and his fingers ache as they squeeze each other, desperate to find an outlet for the nervous energy coursing through him.
On the counter, his phone chimes. He silences it immediately, picks up the plastic stick, and looks.
Two pink lines stare back.
Fuck.
Shane is still dating Rose Landry when he learns that he's pregnant. It goes better than expected.
