May realised a very long time ago that Buck was basically her stepbrother. So, when the lightning strike finally provided the impetus for Bobby to admit that he also brought a kid into their family, she had every intention of seizing the opportunity to properly integrate Buck into the Grant-Nash family.
And, look, if in the process she also gains a brother-in-law… clearly the universe was just waiting for the opportunity to make that happen.

Caesar's eyes glanced over her, full of glee and excitement that she did not share. Her own eyes glassy as she glanced at the audience.
"Johanna, I see tears in your eyes. Could that be because you've spend the past years caring for your invalid father?"
She pushed the tears further to the surface as she nodded. "He lost his leg several years ago, my brothers provide for us and I take care of the home"
"Now isn't that beautiful folks? Such a sweet, gentle soul she is" Caesar claimed as the crowd roared while a tear rolled down her cheek.
They mindlessly ate up the story she fed them, the harmless girl from District 7 - who played the violin and smiled like the world wasn't about to end.
Perhaps because, in Johanna's mind, she'd already won.

Will raises his eyebrows. “Is that why you came in here?” he repeats, looking back down at the blue flannel. “To ask me about the weather in Lenora?”
“Kind of,” Mike says, and then, “well no, not about the weather specifically. I just– I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh.” And Will looks a lot more surprised at this, actually, than the idea that Mike might have just wanted to come to his room to make small talk about unseasonably frigid California winters. “Okay. What about?”
“Anything.” The response is embarrassingly immediate. “Everything. I don’t know. I missed you.”
Hawkins, 1986. The world is ending, there are too many people in Mike's house, and to top it all off, he and Will have some things to talk through.

Summary
After being the cause of a failed mission in Italy, Tony brought Peter back to New York. In order for Peter to take a break and regain himself he is stripped of his access to the Avengers Tower and his clearance is reduced to level one.
Tony leaves to be back with the rest of the Avengers in Europe, Pepper's on a business trip in Asia, and Happy left for Canada.
And if this couldn't get any better, his teacher announces a field trip to Stark Industries.
This was going to be a disaster.

Peter is alone, goes on a field trip to Stark Industries, and breaks down emotionally.
ABANDONED thank you for all the support but I can't get myself to write a proper ending for this story. I think as ab angst story it's self contained enough to be read with an ominous end but there is no actual resolution if that's what you're looking for.
