Summary
Upon the eighteenth day of birth, everyone in Camelot gains the name of their soul-bound partner on their wrist. The fates cared nothing for status or position; only their plans mattered. That much was made clear when Merlin and Arthur woke to find each other’s names on their wrists.
Uther was furious, of course, but there was nothing he could do without upsetting the balance of the kingdom.
Merlin, rushing to finish his chores before he and Arthur were due to meet with the king, was knocked through a window by a passing servant. At that very moment, Uther and Arthur were walking through the courtyard. They heard Merlin scream, and Arthur ran, reaching out desperately, begging internally to reach him before he hit the ground.
As he reached out, Arthur’s eyes flashed bright gold. Merlin stopped in mid-air, suspended meters from the ground. Everything froze. Not a sound could be heard. -
