She blinked. Maybe he was some hallucination because of the martini she had. She blinked again. He was still there with that same shit eating grin she’s seen countless times. He was certainly a Bridgerton. He had the same chestnut colored hair as the rest of them, the same distinguished nose, that air of nobility. She recalled how they were supposedly descended from a viscount or something. She mentally tried to count them, going from eldest to youngest. This one had green eyes so it had to be -
“Colin.”
He smirked at her.
“Thought for a second you forgot who I was.”

Summary
The realization, when it came, was not a lightning strike. It was slow, methodical, almost seductively lazy. One moment, he was so certain that his anger stemmed only from the fact that she had kept such a secret from him on purpose. The next, he knew, without any room for error, that he was so angry because it was not anger at all, but love.
He was in love with Penelope Featherington. Had maybe been in love with her every day that he had known her, but had simply been too stupid or blind to realize it. And now, she was in love with a man who was not him. Who would never be him. Who could never be him. He felt something settle in the pit of his stomach, a seed of anguish taking root in his chest cavity.
Two days later, in an alleyway in Italy, he threw up a pile of daffodil flowers and received a death sentence in one swift blow.

Brienne isn't interested in dating anyone. Jaime--a frequent customer turned semi-friend at the gaming shop where Brienne works--isn't interested in dating anyone either. So when Brienne wants to get her matchmaking father off her back for just one year so she can focus on helping run the Tarth Sevenmas Festival, Jaime is, of course, the perfect, perfectly safe choice for her to bring home.
Curious about the title of this fic? I’m joining an effort to call on AO3 to fulfill commitments they have already made to address harassment and racist abuse on the archive. Read more, boost, and get involved here!

From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]Subject: This week's crossword
Good day,
I am sending this email in regards to your crossword answer for 12-across in today's newspaper. The clue was 'Oathkeeper's owner' and the suggested answer was 'Blue Knight.' Oathkeeper actually belonged to Goldenhand the Just, not the Blue Knight. This seems like a fairly simple fact to get wrong, but I see from the note accompanying the crossword that it is your first week. You do not need to credit me when you issue the correction.
Sincerely,
Jaime Lannister, PhD of History********
One Sunday, Jaime Lannister sends an email to the new King's Landing Times crossword editor. It does not go over as planned.

This is a fic about sailing, the police force, PTSD, being chased by the past, forgiveness, but mostly SAILING. I'm sorry if I get geeky about it, but it's a great sport and not enough women do it.
Set in modern day Westeros but with our cultural references, because I quite literally wanted the best of both worlds.Bookmarked by found_fox
