Summary
Stede wonders what the man looks like. He doesn’t sound young like the first profile. Maybe a man in his late thirties? Or forties, perhaps? “Yes, of course, but I—” He shifts on the sofa, feeling embarrassed. “I’m rather new to this, I’m afraid.”
The man hums, and another shiver runs down Stede’s spine. “To phone sex?” he asks. “Paying for it? To talking to a man?”
“All of the above,” Stede sighs. “I mean, I’ve talked to men before, obviously, but…”
“Not for sex.”
Stede figures that the safest way to figure out if he's actually attracted to men is by calling a phone sex line.

Absolutely fantastic! So well written, perfect amount of mutual pining and angst and communication. I think I read this in the span of 24 hours because it was so unbelievably good. I also loved the plot so much, such a unique trope and so well implemented. Their characters felt so spot on, I loved how detail oriented Stede was and also of course Ed immediately falling in love. A very round story as well, felt like the perfect amount of words. Just mwah, chef’s kiss

This made me giggle and kick my feet. I loved every single second of reading this fic, it gave me the most wonderful heart pains with their pining and stupidity. It was so well written, I loved the pacing and the different styles, especially the crew’s group chat made me giggle so much. Wonderful through and through

Summary
Stede is divorced, rebuilding a life in the UK and working at Jim's non-profit community centre. His 6-month stay is running out and, well, turns out a fake marriage is an option to stay, because tropes are fun. Ed's got his own shit going on, you'll find out more in later chapters, but he thinks a sham marriage to this weird guy is probably going to at least be a bit of a laugh. Will update weekly.

“No, no, absolutely not, Lucius, you didn’t tell me he looked like that!”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Lucius!” Stede hisses. “He’s gorgeous, we are not doing this!”
Lucius is saying something but Stede honestly has no idea what it is because blood is pounding in his ears and the pub has almost entirely emptied and this night has very much gotten away from him and the most stunningly beautiful man has just walked in. And Stede has had four glasses of horrible wine and god, all that leather, and Christ almighty, look at his hair. His hair.

Bookmarker's Notes
Absolutely wonderful. I always love a story where the underlying message is to eat the rich and this one sure delivered but also sprinkled some wonderful fake/pretend relationship, pining and misunderstandings in there. The writing style was so delightful I just couldn’t put it away and the characters felt very round and realistic (mind you, I did want to scream at them from time to time, lovingly of course). Just a wonderful story I cannot wait to reread

Summary
“I mean, you kind of did the same thing yesterday,” Lucius tells him afterwards, when they’re reviewing the day’s adventure for the logbook. Ed’s somewhere out on deck, which is a very good thing, since Stede is having a bit of a panic. “And the day before, and the day before—”
“Did I really?” Stede wails in horror.
“And the day before,” Lucius confirms. “Except then it was ‘dear heart.’ No, wait, it was ‘my love.’ ‘Dear heart’ was the day before that. Actually, I don’t think you’ve called him by just his name in like, a week.”
Or, Stede realizes he's maybe, possibly started calling Ed rather revealing things.
