Summary
Mike and Will start on a swingset in kindergarten, almost eighteen years ago, when Will is five, very shy, and sitting by himself during recess. Mike Wheeler slots himself into Will's life like he was always meant to be there — shuffles beside him, asks if he wants to be friends. He is the first friend Will ever makes, and they don't know it yet, but Mike will change his life forever.
(And, well, Will has a few secrets from Mike. One: that he's the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and two: that Will is hopelessly in love with him. The latter happened long before the former, and that's almost exactly the reason why Will hasn't said anything at all, and probably never will.)

Summary
“You, uh, cut your hair.” Is the first thing El says, wonder in her voice as she picks at a strand of his now much more even haircut. “You never said you cut it!”
Mike feels Will’s eyes burning into him when he smiles at her, trying his best to look sheepish, “It was on a whim, didn’t think it was important.”
There's a lot he hadn't told them and a lot he hopes they never find out.
Mike Wheeler believes he can change, or at least he hopes he can, because otherwise there's no way he'll ever be able to fix himself before his girlfriend and his best friend come back and figure out what a freak he's become. But maybe change isn't up to him because everything he does seems to make matters worse, including the way he just can't seem to stop thinking about his best friend.
or
Mike deals with internalized biphobia in the best way he knows how- by almost ruining everything with his best friend and then kissing him, because yeah, he knows how to make good choices.

Summary
Mike just stares at Richie, slightly opened mouthed. Richie has been keeping a spare inhaler on him for three years in case Eddie needed one. That wasn’t just friendship, not even best-friend status, that was… that was something else entirely.
Something like love.

Summary
Will ignores a timid reply from his classmate, his focus fully on this strange interloper that could be his best friend’s twin.
Evil twin, as Dustin would say, his voice low and incriminating. Ultraman type shit. Will considers relaying the situation on their upcoming weekly call to make the current situation less unsettling.
The guy is cautiously smiling back now – a reflection of Will’s unconscious expression at the thought of Dustin’s clarification – and it doesn’t falter, even once Will loses his amusement. Instead, the grin widens, almost too big for his face and definitely too big for Mike’s usual range of expression. His eyebrows rise above the rim of his lenses.
