Wei Ying was standing on the beach, holding a pair of sandals and staring out, his sand-covered bare feet carefully out of reach of the actual water. There was a strange, mournful twist to his mouth that faded when he saw that he wasn’t alone, replaced by a warm smile. “Lan Zhan, is that you?”
“Mn,” he replied, and walked up to meet him there in the middle of the sand. Privately, he thought, who else would it be?
Wei Ying laughed. “I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. You looked good out there.”

Clearing his throat, Frodo pulls the drawstrings to his robe tighter. “Ah, yes, well. That would be nice, Sam, yes.” Because his shoulder does ache. Very much so.
