I read a tweet from someone talking about how Vex got some earrings for Pike instead of just getting a diamond out of the Whitestone treasury. And how that person thinks that that was Vex'ahlias part in saying sorry to Laudna for causing all of this to happen to her.
I took that idea and just went with it.

She cuts him off with a sob.
“Lulah,” he practically whines, a newfound agony in his voice with every sound she makes. “Lulah, can you- can you talk to me, darling?”
She tries, she really does, but the second she opens her mouth her eyes land on the skeleton again, and then the ground, and then she’s back there again, holding someone’s hand and bleeding out onto the sand.
So instead she just shakes her head, even if disappointing her father makes her feel like she’s dying all over again.

or, Tallulah wakes up from a nightmare completely alone, and puts herself in danger trying to change that. Luckily, Wilbur finds her and makes her feel safe again.
