He lets out a small groan and she turns to see him slowly sitting up and rubbing at his eyes trying to rid them of sleep.
She turns to him and offers a small smile, spatula in hand. ‘Morning.’
JJ blinks at her a couple times, his hand comes up to run through his already tousled hair, his eyes focus onto her and Kie can’t quite figure out what makes his eyes slightly widen and his mouth fall when they do.
‘Holy shit,’ he breathes out.
Her first thought is that he sounds shocked, the next is crap, did he not remember last night? He hadn’t seemed drunk, but she can’t be sure. Maybe she’s just created an insanely awkward situation where he hasn’t seen her in two years and all of a sudden he wakes up and she’s in his kitchen making breakfast.
‘You really are pregnant,’ he continues.

After finding out she’s pregnant, for reasons even she doesn’t quite understand herself, Kie goes to JJ. Throughout the months of her pregnancy her and JJ fall into comfortable and entirely platonic domesticity that will in no way result in them falling in love.- Language:

It’s an idle, oh, this is a JJ thing tossed over her head, between themselves, like a universally acknowledged fact.

if love was blind, jj maybank probably wouldn’t have spent so many high school class periods staring at kiara carrera’s legs from the back corner of the classroom. kie probably wouldn’t have felt warm all over every time she saw jj follow his friends into the Wreck, hat on backwards, laugh boisterous, smirk dangerous.
if love was blind, jj and kiara probably would have been just fine when they were home for the holidays. they wouldn’t have met eyes in the glow of bonfires and fireworks and festive lights, wouldn’t have thought, just for the weekend.
