Evan Hansen knew today wasn't going to be a great day despite what his mother thought, though he still had a slight childish hope it would be, or at least part of it would be, but now he knew for sure that it wasn't. If it was, then Connor Murphy wouldn't be mad at him and he wouldn't be angrily running away from Evan. Today wasn't a good day and here's why.
(AU where Evan is the one to try and commit suicide, not Connor. He also had a crush on Connor, not Zoe, but he still mentions Zoe in his letter because he admires her.)

Mona gets too deep into the role she’s playing and she forgets the rest of the world exists. Dirk doesn’t mind. Everyone handles things their own way. “So it doesn’t count, she was too busy being mahogany. So it’s something about you.”
“There’s nothing about me.”
“Don’t be stupid, there’s very much about you, but there’s something specifically about you, today, right now.” Dirk peers at him. “So we’ve got to figure it out, because now that the witch is spookied or whichever Amanda said, and we don’t have a way to figure out how to fix it, so you and I have got to figure out because it would seem temporarily you and I are the only sane ones at the moment.”

Summary
Being the Head Accountant for one of the leading technology companies in the country isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes, the snack machine jams. Other times, Jared forgets that Evan isn't his intern, no, he won't go get him his complicated coffee order with a blueberry scone.

He must have touched Hansen’s arm, his neck, something because one second Connor’s living in a monochrome world and the next it explodes. There’s colour everywhere and the once familiar, bland school hallway is now unrecognisable and there, down at his feet, sits Hansen and Connor can clearly see how the skin on his face is so much paler than that of his arm and that his terrified eyes are almost the same colour as the shirt he’s wearing and it’s all too fucking much.
