Summary
They grew up together, despite the fact that Ori and his family only barely counted as "nobility". He and the princes grew up together. They went to the same classes, and he shared in their adventures throughout Erebor (and once beyond). They were quite a trio, they were his best friends. But now, now he cannot stand them. He can be cordial, civil even, if only to keep his head on his shoulders, but it was well known that something happened between them all.
Fili doesn't know why, but Ori hates him now. He remembers sharing in their childhood and how close they had been, but now? It hurt. So what else was there to do but match the energy he received? And so Fili pretended to hate Ori as well and drive the wedge in even deeper instead of hold onto the past that wasn't anymore.
But they were pushed back together when Ori is delegated to teach the crown prince history. Everything escalates to an extreme. Can the two overcome and bring light to what drove them apart? Where will their relationship end after all is said and done? They planted the seeds, and now anger and violence and teeth grow from them, can that ever be changed?

Dwalin had only wanted to find out more about the elusive dwarf, who saved him in the smugglers’ caverns, but abruptly finds himself thrown into the middle of a plot that endangers not only the king and his heirs, but also everything he had worked for since becoming Captain of the Guard. Soon, he has to question who to trust and no choice but to delve deep into the dark and gory underworld of Ered Luin.
