And there it was.
Heart leaping from his chest, he couldn’t help but smile broadly when his eye fell upon the docked ship of Baratie. Embraced by the familiar warmth of home, their shared haven, he could practically smell what Sanji had been serving for lunch, the turn over to the dinner menu already underway. The efficiency and humming life, as always, was an offering of security and comfort.

As the night drew to a close, a golden light bathed everything in silence.
Luffy reached out to touch his hand, and Sanji realized that he was still holding a cigarette, long forgotten to the quiet breeze of the night. He took a last empty puff—he would never waste anything, no matter what it was—before throwing it away in the sea.
"I didn't want to sleep just yet," Sanji answered. "Needed my fix. Got deprived too much back there, you know."
Back there. Back in hell, he meant.
