“Good, Witch,” Elphaba hissed, her voice sharp and low, venom dripping from every syllable. She leaned closer, breath fogging the glass, eyes locked on the thing looking back at her. “Even uglier now.”
Her skin was an even more terrible shade of green, her body was only a sack of bones and her flesh had been torn so many times that—
“What are you saying?” he asked, voice rough. “Why are you saying something like that, Fae?”
Her lips pressed together, and the disgust returned to her features like muscle memory.
“It’s the first time I’m seeing this," her hand gestured vaguely toward her side, toward the uneven scar that cut across the soft plane of her ribs. “It’s hideous."
She didn’t notice Fiyero crossing the room until she could feel him — his warmth, his breath, the faint shift in the air.
“Elphaba,” he said softly, his voice like something sacred. “Nothing about you is hideous.”
or,
when Elphaba can't believe Fiyero's words about her worth, he must prove just how beautiful she is - physically, because he wants to worship his love the same way a follower worships their faith. And, oh; it's been so long since she was his.
