The perfect politician, someone who every voter might think was their best friend and wholly on their side.

But when Castellan Garak and Military Minister Kira find the body of Julian Bashir—with a heavily encrypted datarod containing the last fifty years of covert operations by Section 31 in his hand—on the eve of the treaty signing on Deep Space Nine, negotiations fall apart.
There is some nuance to it, of course, but what is nuance when your friend’s dead body has been found in a stasis container in Cargo Bay Four?
Or, Julian dies in the name of service to the Alpha Quadrant, but does a poor job staying dead. It does get his friends back together in one place, though.

Nerys, did you know that you have, apparently, somehow, won some degree of protection from a former Obsidian Order agent? Oh, protection against me, lest I decide to murder you to preserve my honor. It seemed impossible to slip casually into the light conversation they made while walking to the O'Brien's quarters for dinner.
He was struck, then, by the alienness of these aliens. In no Cardassian household, none, would a family sit around a dinner table and speak the name of the former head of the Obsidian Order at anything above a whisper.

While in solitary on Internment Camp 371, Bashir spirals into doubt as to whether he has anyone in his life who really knows and loves him. When he returns to Deep Space 9, Bashir is a wreck, both seeking support from Garak and not being able to receive it. After an intervention from Keiko, Bashir is finally able to see that he has in fact been known and loved all along.

Robin certainly wouldn't stab a man going through a mental health crisis, even if said man was Red Hood and was trying to kill him. Too bad Robin can't come to the phone right now, since Tim doesn't have the same reservations.
This is technically part of an AU idea where Tim was a bit more, eh, antisociality minded and had a more difficult tenure as Robin. He eventually becomes Red Hood's Robin instead, but this is kind of their first meeting. From Jason’s perspective at least.
The abuse tags are vague, like a combined six sentences. and the graphic violence is like, one good stab, but still, better safe than sorry.

Tim nods.

Tim swallows, his tongue suddenly heavier than he ever thought was possible. He looked at his dad, really looked. The salt and pepper hair, the pale sallow color of his skin and the deliberate way in which he sat, as if he still wasn't used to being able to move again.
Slowly, he reaches out and pulls his dad into a hug. Jack seems startled at first but reciprocates quickly. Tim sighs. It was true, only an idiot wouldn't be able to see the pattern. The lifestyle was addicting and he'd die before he ever thought about retiring.

The thing is, right, that when you come from a family like Tim’s, where any affection at all is seen as unnecessary and not validated as a need for a person, it’s hard to pinpoint what a healthy relationship should look like. And Bruce definitely had not been in the right headspace to care for him correctly, or at all really. Paired with Tim’s conviction that Batman needed a Robin, well, it was practically fate that things started spiraling out of control quickly. This marked the start of the probably unhealthiest relationship between a Robin and Batman to date. (Yes, even including Jason, because everything with him happened after his death, not before.)
