He had to blink a few times to recover. “What?”
“The butterfly effect. It goes something like that in the rainforest a butterfly swings its wings and on the other side of the Earth a hurricane is born. A butterfly. Caused. A hurricane. A freaking hurricane. Or a tornado or whatever. It's amazing isn't it? And so scary. Everything affects everything.” Reo raised both his hands in a dramatic gesture and continued his rant. “I started thinking about the fact that my life depends on a small beautiful creature miles and miles away from here that could end it anytime. For example right now. I wouldn't mind that-”
Nagi took a closer look at Reo. He crouched in front of him, extended his right arm to touch his calf and shake him a bit. Or maybe to make sure he was in fact there. A physical proof he wasn't talking to a ghost. A silhouette of a person. “Reo,” he paused. “Are you high?”

“Uh-huh.” Shoko seemed unconvinced. She leaned against the counter, eyes sharp with amusement. “Maybe he has a girlfriend.”
Suguru’s fingers stilled. “You think so?”

Otoya blanked. The other smacked him upside the head again.
“Ow!”
“Just makin’ sure yer brain still works.”
“It won’t if you keep doing that!” Otoya rubbed his head, “But yeah, it’s chill. Just don’t get a crush on me, okay?”
Next to him, Karasu stilled. Otoya was almost worried before he barked out a laugh.
“That won’t be a problem,” before Otoya could fire off a remark, he continued, “yer not my type anyway.”
Otoya blinked. Karasu continued eating like this wasn’t the most monumental moment of his best friend’s life.

Otoya groans exaggeratedly, but he shifts against Karasu anyway, reaching for his bedside drawer, and Karasu belatedly realizes how close him and Otoya are pressed against each other; their legs are tangled up together, and before he’d moved, Otoya had been practically draped across Karasu’s chest. It makes something in Karasu tighten, somewhere around his ribcage, and his hoody, oversized and baggy though it is, suddenly feels too tight on him.
____Karasu and Otoya are college seniors, best friends, roommates, and frat brothers in the Beta Lambda fraternity. They also may or may not be in love. (They are).

“Ow!” Sae said, wrenching his hand out of Shidou’s grasp and flicking him on the forehead. Sae inspected the area Shidou had bitten, and in the low light he could just barely make out the imprint of teeth. “That’s disgusting. What are you, a dog?”
Shidou just grinned up at him.
And suddenly, he realized. Ah, maybe this was his scary dog privilege.
“Hey little demon, how would you like to be my dog?”
Somehow, Shidou’s grin got even wider. “Woof.”

Warmth immediately rushes to Isagi’s face. The summer heat has nothing on the blood in his fingertips and cheeks.
Bachira’s definitely dreaming—Isagi can see that. But part of him wonders who he’s picturing.
Isagi wishes he had the guts to confess so Bachira could let him down easily. Bachira is sweet. He’d reject Isagi with an apologetic smile, and they’d go back to normal after a few days, but the unrequited feelings would sting like hydrogen peroxide on a fresh wound.
Bachira shifts a little closer, and his lips nearly curl into a smile. Isagi sighs, closes his eyes, and tries to get at least three hours of sleep. He does not think of what it would feel like to fall asleep with Bachira curled up beside him.
(or, five times bachira talks in his sleep, and one time he tells isagi what he really means.)

She knew best friends weren’t supposed to make out every time they got drunk, even if Satoru insisted that girl friends did that all the time – Suguru opted every time to not point out that neither of them usually made out with Shoko, despite the fact that she was also their friend and a girl –, and she knew best friends didn’t do other things too.
Or: in which there’s a wedding, Satoru pines, and Suguru is forced to confront her feelings for her best friend once and for all.
