"Hey there," the alpha says with a smile. He's still wearing his suit, but he's undone his tie and his collar is unbuttoned. It's unfairly devastating. "Nice to be off work, huh?"Keith can't get out of talking to him. "Yeah," he says to the floor. "Nice." He doesn't say anything else. Maybe the alpha will leave him alone.
"I'm Shiro," the man says instead of leaving Keith alone. But he doesn't hold out his hand to shake. Instead he does the way less intimidating, way more polite finger wiggle-wave that doesn't force omegas to make contact with alphas they don't know.
Keith swallows. He doesn't get waved to very often. Most alphas he's dealt with say screw politeness and go right into trying to touch. "Keith.”

"Earnest Instincts"
“Oh,” Keith says.He looks taken aback, clearly not having expected that from Shiro, and Shiro wishes this weren’t a conversation they had to have at all. Keith has dealt with a lot in his life. Keith has dealt with a lot of bad alphas in his life, too. The last thing Shiro ever wants to do is stir up bad memories.
Dangerous.
“Oh,” Keith says again, before he gets a determined look on his face. “Okay. When is it? I’ll help.”

Shiro doesn’t have a lot of memories from previous ruts past sounds and sensations. A lot of frustration from feeling pent-up, a lot of misplaced anxiety from being without someone to care for, a lot of anger at himself for not being good enough for there to be someone to care for.It’s been a long time since he last shared a rut with someone, and he’s finding it a little astounding how much he can remember. How much settles into him and how settled it makes him feel.
So now he’s sitting up in bed and remembering.

Keith’s eyes are still on Shiro, his gaze boring into Shiro’s as he slowly raises his hand to the heavy gold clasp. He flicks at it, and the Galran robe he’s wearing slides off his shoulders and falls to the floor.Distantly, Shiro realises firstly that the crowd around him is starting to go wild. And secondly, as his brain grinds to a halt, that Keith is completely naked.
“Conqueror.” Keith’s voice is hard, edged with something that sounds like lust and pain. He pitches it loud and low, so that it easily reaches the ears of the hundreds in the Hall. “Take this unworthy offering and make an example of me.”

"let this not be the end of us (but the beginning)"
The tall double doors swing open, and Keith tries to keep his expression neutral as Shiro steps through them, waving and smiling at the cheering crowd. Keith mentally catalogs the fresh scars on his face and his neck, the only parts of Shiro visible from the heavy battle armour he wears. He clenches his fists tight, resisting the natural urge to run and climb Shiro like a tree. To rub his mate’s scent over himself and drown in it. To treat his wounds and never let him go where Keith can’t follow.Shiro seems to be scanning the room, and Keith raises a hand, almost as if to call out – I’m here, Shiro, I’m here! – when Keith sees a strong, steady arm wrap around Shiro’s shoulders.
Keith’s cry dies on his lips, smothered in his throat. He watches as another Galra wraps himself around Shiro, dipping his head down to whisper something in Shiro’s ear, and Keith’s world goes still as Shiro chuckles with him, throwing his head back.
