Her heart died half of it the day Navia announced her final blow to Callas was the biggest betrayal to their relationship. It died little by little every time Navia miserably found out what she did in the shadows. It died some more when Navia turned around and glared despicably at Clorinde’s hiding spots behind her back.
It died completely today when Navia screamed at her face, wishing the Caspars never took her in all those years ago."

“No.” The girl’s words are curt. Her eyes scan the crowd until they land squarely on her. “I want a duel with Clorinde.”
(There is never any satisfaction when her duels end in executions.)

beautiful beautiful beautiful gorgeous work that i have to read again soon. the ending genuinely gutted me and even almost a year later this fic still stays in my mind so viscerally; thoughts are so scrambled but the desperation of navia's actions, the sheer terror that kept crawling under my skin and up my throat the more i read, and that ending that actually made me cry—God. such a gripping work. thank you writer
