Summary
They never came in quite right.
Of course they didn't. So imperfect was his approach, that this was his divine punishment, bestowed by a cruel god whose face remained unknown. His transgression was not enough to grant him proper banishment, no—that would have been too easy a way out. He wasn't even granted acknowledgement. He was simply marred for all his peers to witness, so that he might be known for his failure first and foremost. Nevermind his intent; the results were all that mattered. Typical of life and death both, it seems.

Summary
Oh, gods, I’ve really messed this up, Viktor thinks with disquietude. In the end, it wasn’t an impulsive action or touch that soured the friendship Viktor held so close to his heart. It was a stupid fucking cake.
Embarrassment burns hot on his cheeks as the silence stretches, exacerbating the dread pooling in his stomach, the end hanging over him like a guillotine about to drop. He gingerly sets the plate down, clearing his throat awkwardly, an apology on the tip of his tongue as he straightens to face Jayce, hand numb from how tightly he’s gripping his cane.
But before Viktor has the chance to even open his mouth—to process anything, really—Jayce has shot up and crossed the room in a flash, grabbed him by the lapels of his coat, and pulled him in for a searing kiss.

After years of bitter war between Zaun and Piltover, the confrontation that will decide the fate of both cities is set to take place tomorrow. The Defender of Tomorrow will face the Herald of Zaun and secure victory for Piltover or die trying. But as the hour draws closer, Jayce cannot bring himself to fight his former partner and the man he is still in love with.
or : after the incident with the Hexcore, Jayce and Viktor part in anger and bitterness, their relationship irreparably broken. They become the champions of their respective cities, on each side of the battlefield, as enemies.

Then Jayce adds, “To study.”
And then, after another beat, Jayce concludes, “Crustaceans.”
Viktor stares. Then clarifies, bewildered, “For the Hexclaw?”
“Yeah,” Jayce says, gripping the back of his neck. Viktor notes that Jayce is not far off from the color of a steamed crustacean himself, at the moment. “For the Hexclaw.”
