It’s a gorgeous day. Clear skies with a bright sun that does not singe Percy’s pale skin, a delicate cool wind that murmurs hushed secrets to the forest. If he listens closely, Percy can just hear the sweet song of the bluebird families that call Whitestone’s oaks and aspens home.
Yet he cannot clear his mind.
Four weeks ago he’d seen that mark on Vax’s wrist.
Vex fussed over him and asked him how he felt and if he hurt, Keyleth and Pike prodded and examined and read and found nothing. But Percy?
Despite being the one who’d discovered it, laying in bed the morning after and noticing it as Vax cupped his cheek, who’d persuaded Vax to tell the others even if it worried them, Percy stayed silent.

Summary
