The moment is slipping away, back into normality, and it doesn’t matter how good normality is for him these days, Adder already begins to mourn it, wondering if he’ll ever have anything even close to it ever again.
He can’t help himself, can’t hold himself back from standing and crossing back over to where Janosh is sitting for the second time in the evening. He only briefly wonders if he’s going to do something he’ll severely regret—if he doesn’t, he’ll spend the rest of his life wondering what could have happened if he had. God, when had he become such a romantic?
