Summary
Temenos reaches up and pulls the hood of Crick’s own cape upward and over his head, blocking Crick’s view of the alley entrance. “With your life?”
Crick swallows. “Yes.”
Temenos casts one last glance at the alley entrance, murmurs a quick prayer to Aelfric, and then looks back at Crick. His eyes are ablaze with adrenaline and something else that Crick doesn’t have time to place before he says, “Follow my lead,” and pulls Crick into a kiss.
[AKA the "public displays of affection make people nervous" trope]

“Crick,” Throné said, rolling her eyes. “Are you worried about him?”
Temenos snorted at that. “Worried?” he repeated. “Whatever for?”
And that gave her pause for a moment, frowning as she thought to herself. She glanced out at the darkness. “He’s a good man,” she finally said, her eyes saying a million things neither of them could articulate.
Temenos turned away, wind tousling his hair. “I suppose he is,” he said with a humorless smile. “But all the more reason not to get too attached, hmm?”

“We should still do something about it,” Agnea concluded, freeing her face to pound her fist into her palm, “we know Temenos is interested—”
Partitio perked up, a spark in his eyes as he added, “—an' Crick is so bad you can see it from the other continent.”
“So we just need to help them along a little!” Agnea clapped her hands, letting out a little cheer. “It’ll be good for them!”
The group decides Crick and Temenos' painfully long courtship has to end. Crick, separate from them, comes to much the same conclusion. Shenanigans ensue.
