Varis has never prayed to any god, save for the one he holds in his hand. Its nerves are made of hybrid metallurgies; its exhalations, gunpowder. Ballistics make up the cadence of its heartbeat, arcs that rise and fall with each firing. A gunblade is better than any altar. Unlike deities, it knows how to serve.

The Night of the Flames
Archduke Elwin Rosfield, Joshua Rosfield, and Rodney Murdoch escaped from the destruction wrought upon Phoenix Gate by a mysterious second Eikon of Fire. Though his body was not recovered from the rubble, it is believed that Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, perished in the fortress that night while defending his family from their would-be assassins.
When Murdoch orders the remaining forces to rally at the rear gate, the men instead search the fortress for Clive. As a result of this, many things change and one thing does not.
15 is not a chapter, it is an update about the future of this work.

Summary
It is in the nature of Guardians to forget. Those brought back by the Light must make a conscious effort to remember, and in the end, chasing down your memories can be an unwise and dangerous thing to do. Still, if you're determined to go haring off into the perilous and murky depths of your past, tampering in things best left forgotten, you might as well bring some company.
