Summary
Basil's been breaking the slow way for three years now, all omens and signs on the sidelines. Aubrey hates him; Kel's moved on; Hero's at college; Sunny's... gone; Grandma's health is getting worse—abandoned; one part left alone and two parts tragedy. Bricks laid by fear, and all these walls holding something in. Home's a prison of family photo polaroids on the walls, skewed truths and panoramic views, all yellowing at the corners, slowly replaced by the golden hour sun shining down on the things that couldn’t ever leave him.
Primarily told from Basil's perspective, The Garden Within details a part of his pre-canon spiral in the year leading up to and through the events of canon—with vignette perspectives from the other members of the cast, too, told throughout the seasons as they change, and as all of them change with it. Each of them healing like rusty weather vanes in that hurricane horrible scene, and counting mistakes in the rings of a tree.
Someday, everything will be okay again.

Summary
Angel's been making the modern ends meet however they've had to—what's another clinical trial? Two-bit sliced apart postmortem for the medical system, selling their body for drug real estate; all for guilt-free takeout and a month of a little less than poverty. It's a way to kill time, and they're used to it; they're used to a lot of things.
Vespertine is a short vignette about Angel's headspace on that first Wednesday of the trial.

Summary
They're both hooked weak by the heart, but Angel's icarian leap of faith was without their wings. Falling and flailing to wax their feathers together on the way to the water below, where the thrashing waves are a comforting vista, and trauma's jagged fingers reach through the cliff-faces to catch and dash them on it's stones.
Swansong is a short vignette character study focused on Angel's struggle to simply be in the aftermath of everything, to the backdrop of them and Lee's domesticity.
