Summary
The lights are bright and a pure, dazzling white; Jackie’s voice drips honey; the beat thumps on, light drum hits and hi-hats; her midriff is smooth and visible above the belt loops of her low-waisted blue jeans; the young girls in the crowd squeal as she sways innocently in front of them; and Shauna is one bass strum away from snapping.

Summary

So he enlists the quiet, weird Melissa to help him craft adequately smart love letters to Shauna. Little does Randy know, Melissa’s been harboring a crush of her own on Shauna for years, and jumps at the opportunity to get closer to her, even if through a surrogate. Shauna’s best friend, Jackie, is eager for her to date Randy, while Shauna has harbored her own crush on Jackie since they were children. Melissa may have inadvertently placed herself in the middle of a house of cards with a leaf blower, and hopefully she’ll be able to catch the queen when the cards all fall down.
