“You told me that courage in the face of fear is a knightly virtue,” Hans says, kicking at a loose pebble at his feet. It skitters between them, settling just shy of Henry’s boots. “And that being brave is something that you have to learn.”
Henry kicks the stone back. “Are you afraid now?”
Opportunities present themselves at the siege of Suchdol, and love makes Hans brave.

Summary
The clouds have taken on colorful hues, purples and pinks and oranges, swirling across the sky like soap on the surface of a tub. Hans turns onto his side.
