Summary
Set vaguely between E for Ego and F for Flight in my ABC's of Trauma with Sherlock Holmes. You don't have to read that first, because it can stand on its own two feet (I think), but this is not something I could fit in the main thing so I slipped it in.
John promised Sherlock he'd write a letter to replace the one he'd given him after Mary's death (in TLD) and gives it to Sherlock at the worst time.

Summary
What if everything that Sherlock had wanted to, but never could say to John, was put on striking display on what was to be a pleasant afternoon of ice cream and ducks? What happens when John has to finally face everything he told himself he never wanted to know?
John comes by with Rosie for their weekly hang with Sherlock. But when the man in question fails to greet them, John goes off to find Sherlock in his room, shirtless and hunched over in pain. He's stopped in his tracks by the angry lines and marks marring what he once knew to be flawless skin. And suddenly John can't run from Sherlock's truths any longer.
AKA - Sherlock's in a bad way, and John finally decides to stay.

Summary
After the disastrous reveal at the Landmark, John tells Sherlock there can be no excuse for what he’s done, and no forgiveness. Sherlock leaves London and starts a new life, and not even the British Government knows where.
It’s up to John to track him down and make things right, with a trip around the world and a clue only John would recognize.
