Buck runs, and Eddie follows.

It’s been over two months of chasing Buck across the country, from state to state to state, following a trail he suspects Buck doesn’t realize he’s dropping breadcrumbs on. If he did, Eddie worries he’d stop sending the postcards, and they’re his only clues. Buck left his phone in his apartment back in Los Angeles. If he’s gotten a new one, he hasn’t shared the number with anyone—not Maddie, not Chris, and certainly not Eddie.
So Eddie lays in a too-soft bed in a too-small cabin in the middle of bumfuck Nebraska, the first grey light of dawn creeping its fingers past the dusky pink curtains, and reads the postcard again. He knows what it says by heart, but it makes him feel a little less alone to hear Buck’s voice in his head.

Summary
As Eddie lays on the hot pavement bleeding out, his eyes locked on Buck’s bloody face, his hand reaching out towards him, what washes over him isn’t his hard-earned stillness nor is it shock.
It’s clarity, edging slowly into focus from off-stage.
And when he wakes up in the hospital bed and registers a soft, slim hand in his, he thinks, "no, that’s not it".

Summary
To celebrate the end of the school year, Christopher's class is going to the beach. Christopher wants to go, but he has one request, that Buck comes with them. Because if Buck is there, everyone will be safe. The fun day ends in near disaster and Christopher is left feeling angry that his Buck is as human as everyone else.
Buck is spiraling - after so many near death experiences, he's not sure how to break out of the silence he's fallen into. He knows his family is worried about him, but he can't feel anything. Will the love of his family be enough to bring him out of the quiet?

Summary
"She said they weren't bad people so I'm guessing they weren't abusive?"
It felt like a bucket of ice water had just been dumped on Buck's head. Chimney's question hit Buck harder than he ever thought it would. He hadn't thought about his parents in a decade, hadn't seen or talked to them in longer. He had stopped flinching away from the phantom hands long ago, stopped squirming when Bobby squeezed his shoulder or Chimney patted his back, learned that Hen's hugs were unconditional and loving, and absolutely thrived when any of them showed him affection. Most of all, he loved when Eddie pressed a knee into Buck's during meals at work, or when he sat far closer than necessary in the firetruck, he preened when the love of his life his best friend squeezed his bouncing knee or let his hands linger longer than normal for two "platonic best friends".
One mention of his parents though, and that world was falling apart.

"Why don't you come around anymore?
"You never...you don't come to movie nights. You don't come to dinner. I can't...I can't even remember the last time you came out with us and Tia Pepa. Where have you been?"
"You don't...you don't invite me out anymore," Buck finally explains with a shrug. Nonchalant. And Eddie wants to tackle him to the ground. "If you invited me, I would try to come."
And Eddie is seething.
"Try to come?"
+Buck starts to pull away from Eddie after the Ouija incident, and Eddie thinks he's being replaced by Ravi. This leads to a very honest conversation about their feelings. 9x05 coda.
