Katsuki knows what Izuku's spoken determination sounds like; it was the tone of his voice when he knew he wanted to become a hero for the first time, the way his words slowed when he went off on his own to chase Tenko during the war, how his voice quieted when he told Katsuki he was going to be a teacher back at UA.
But this time, it's different. Izuku, voice laced with something Katsuki can't quite understand, says no, and Katsuki doesn't know what to do anymore.

Summary
It was nearly impossible for Katsuki to understand that somebody besides himself could be special. That somebody could even embody the word. I mean, he'd tried his whole life to do exactly that, yet he never found success. But whenever Katsuki sees him, special is all that comes to mind. It's so stupid. Katsuki is so stupid.
So he takes it upon himself, the past 16 years and more, and wishes to be better.
