The fire will either accept it as truth or not.” Her eyes narrowed at the paper still in Teen’s hand. “Presumably that will involve exposing a truth you’d rather not.”
“W-what happens if you lie?” Billy asked, looking at her anxiously.
Offering him a mirthless smile, Agatha replied shortly, “You die.” She didn’t have to look to know Rio was wearing a manic smile.

“You always were such a brat.” Rio’s breath was hot against Agatha’s ear, her voice throaty and raw and filthy. “You never knew how to do what you were told.”
